Introducing the Chapel

St. Francis Chapel is a Roman Catholic chapel staffed by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary and located in the Hynes Court of the Prudential Center Shopping Mall. The Mall is at the base of the Prudential building, one of the tallest buildings in Boston, and stands in the city’s Back Bay. It is an exciting area. MIT, Boston University, Northeastern University, The Museum of Fine Arts, Berklee College of Music, Symphony Hall (home of The Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Boston Pops), Fenway Park, and the Boston Conservatory of Music are all located within a few blocks from the Prudential. St. Clement Eucharistic Shrine and Our Lady of Grace Seminary are only a few blocks away—they serve as the "motherhouse" of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in the United States.
People from all over the world come through the Chapel (because of the large student populations and also the Hynes Convention Center and the many nearby hotels). People have visited the Chapel from Canada, Togo, France, Japan, Russia, Honduras, Sierra Leone, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, New Zealand, Scotland, Nigeria, Ireland, Australia, China, Vatican City State, Korea, India, Austria, Iraq, Columbia, Portugal, Italy, Indonesia, Philippines,...the list goes on and on.
What people value most about the Chapel is that it is a quiet space in the midst of a very busy and very noisy city. More than one person has called the Chapel an "oasis of silence" and an "oasis of prayer". We are happy to provide this space for people who visit our Chapel.
St. Francis Chapel is staffed by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, a Roman Catholic religious congregation of priests and brothers dedicated to working towards a rebirth of spirituality in today’s world. The Oblates were founded in 1830 by Venerable Fr. Pio Bruno Lanteri in northern Italy. The Oblates now have houses in various parts of the world.
